7/4/10

Fourth of July in the mountains

We headed up to Tamarack for the weekend to relax and have some good old fashioned "natural" fun.  It's such a pretty drive- I took this picture on the way.

The girls found various ways to entertain themselves on the drive.  Payton watched a movie, Leah played games, and Audrey slept {thank goodness}!

Isn't the cabin we rented amazing?!!

Just kidding!  Here is the cute little cottage we stayed in.  It's just a bit smaller, but perfect all the same.  It had great views, a hot tub on the deck, and even a bedroom for Memaw upstairs! {Noteworthy: it's so cute how Audrey confuses the words cabin and cottage. She kept calling it the "cabbage"!}

We soaked up some sun and hung out at the pool{well, mostly the hot tub- the pool was freezing}. It was ok, though - the hot tub was huge! Notice the beautiful golf course surrounding the pool. And as you can tell, Audrey wasted no time kicking back and enjoying the view!

Our friends, the Lundbergs, were also in Donnelly for the weekend so we hooked up for dinner and games. Leah, Emily, and Audrey had fun romping around in the woods, but not so much fun battling the monster mosquitos. The poor girls were covered in bites.

Payton, Cody, and Jenny commandeered the living room and spread out with an engaging game of Risk.  Leah and Audrey, meanwhile, played and giggled nonstop! Is it possible to have twins six and a half years apart?

Here are the guys hanging out on the deck watching the bbq.

Every once in a while, Audrey would root right into the middle of the adult's games to get a "love check" from daddy {which of course, he accomodated}!

Audrey is proudly showing off her new duds!  She is actually wearing Emily's clothes. Audrey let Emily dress her up like a doll! {Emily: little sisters are so much fun until they are permanent little sisters -just ask Payton and Leah!!}

Bill went golfing and let Payton come along to drive the golf cart.  She loved being daddy's chauffeur!  They saw deer and a fox on the course.

When Bill was done golfing, he drove the cart to the "cabbage" so Leah and Audrey could have a little ride.

Since the 4th was on Sunday this year, it was a little anticlimatic.  We were all in bed asleep by the time it was dark enough for fireworks.   But it was still fun to get away for the weekend and spend some time away from real life!
