Slumber Party

Two friends and I thought it would be so fun to surprise our girls with a girl's day out and end with a slumber party in a local hotel. As time went on we were having a hard time finding a date that worked for all three of us at the same time and nobody really wanted to spend money on a hotel. Then my friend, Tanya, told us that her husband and son were going on a scout campout for a couple of days and that we could have the slumber party at her house. It worked out for my friend, Tiffany, too because her husband and son were going on the same campout. It worked out for me because since I don't have a son, but I have an Audrey, Bill was able to stay at home with her!! This was going to be so exciting for our girls because none of us allows sleepovers for our children. But since we (the moms) would be with them (like camping with friends) we were ok with it! We knew our girls would flip out! Then it evolved into a surprise late birthday party for Payton (since we never ended up doing a friend party). All we told our girls was that we were all going to go do something fun with some friends. We piled all six girls and the three of us adults into my friend's car and we headed to the theatre to see Kit Kittredge: American Girl Movie. We all loved it! The 3 moms were crying at one point because of the sad state of the economy (it hit a little too close to home)! Next we headed to Fuddruckers for dinner!

It was then time to go to Tanya's house for Pay's little surprise! We all went in before Payton did and had just enought time to get into position and shout "surprise"! She was so happy- it was a month and a half past her birthday, so she wasn't expecting this at all! Her friends pitched in and got her a cute doll and she got to see her cute cake her daddy made for her. It was the funniest thing ever. We let the cake give the girls the clue that they would get to have a sleepover! When they realized that- I've never heard louder screams! Check out the picture of Abby- I happened to catch her reaction as soon as they found out- priceless!

We wanted to play charades and keep the girlies guessing what our next adventure would be so Tiff and Tanya started dancing the YMCA motions- you guessed it- we took them swimming at the "Y". It has 3 huge indoor pools and a great waterslide. The girls always want to go there, but we rarely do, so this was a treat! These last 3 pics are of Leah. The little girls wanted to jump off the high diving board so badly, so they climbed that ladder and inched their way to the end of the board and .... and......DOH! they just couldn't do it. Abby went first and then climbed back down. Then Leah tried, and sat there contemplating her fate until she caved and climbed back down the ladder. It was sad- they were so disappointed- they wanted so badly to be brave- chins up girls- it was very brave just to climb that ladder- you'll get it next time!

We left the pool (only because they were closing) and headed back to Tanya's. Pay blew out her candles and we had her yummy cake. The girls wanted to put song and dance shows on for us so I taught them a silly song my grandma used to sing to us called "Have you ever gone fishin' on a hot summer day". They loved it- they were hilarious how they got into it!

We finally got the girls to settle down after hours of playing. Of course I had to take some sleeping pics of them. I think we moms went to sleep at 3:00, but the girls lasted even longer!

The next morning I called my mom and invited her over to make a southern breakfast for us. She's so great- she hurriedly finished her wifely duties and came right over (even with wet hair) and started cooking. We had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and bacon. We all ate until we got sick! After attempting to put the house back together we bid each other sad goodbyes. You would've thought these girls weren't going to see each other for a year- we all live right down the street from each other! We all had too much fun (especially the moms). I have such great friends and so do my girls. We felt so recharged after all that girl time!
