Backyard Campout

The girls have been wondering when we're going camping. We usually go camping at least once in the summer with all our friends. Well, this summer it's just not working out. So Pay and Leah asked if they could pitch a tent in the backyard. They didn't expect us to sleep outside with them so we agreed. Daddy helped them set the tent up and we made smores. The mosquitoes even terrorized us making the experience so authentic! We got them all tucked in their sleeping bags and got their lantern on so they could read. After prayers, Bill and I went inside to clean the kitchen. We thought we should check on them before we hit the hay- I expected them to be up most the night reveling in the excitement of being outside in the tent- but when we checked on them (maybe 15 minutes later) they were already sound asleep! Can you believe that? This was their big chance to stay up late and be goofy- I mean practically no rules- and they went to sleep almost immediately! Oh well, as far as they were concerned- they were in heaven, and I guess I should be grateful that they were oblivious to the kind of fun they could have had!
